Medically Supervised Menopause
and Perimenopause Care

Hormone therapy is a medically supervised treatment used to address certain symptoms associated with perimenopause and menopause when clinically appropriate. Treatment is individualized based on symptoms, medical history, risk factors, current medications, and laboratory review when indicated.

Common symptoms may include:

  • Hot flashes and night sweats

  • Vaginal dryness or discomfort

  • Sleep disturbance

  • Mood changes

  • Brain fog or reduced concentration

  • Low libido

Not all patients are candidates for hormone therapy. A provider evaluation is required to determine whether treatment is appropriate.

HRT

Types of Hormone Therapy
Treatment plans are individualized and may include:

Estrogen Therapy

Estrogen therapy may be considered for eligible patients based on symptoms, medical history, and menopause status. For some patients, estrogen may be used alone, such as after hysterectomy.

Estrogen + Progesterone Therapy

For patients with an intact uterus, progesterone may be included with estrogen therapy to reduce the risk of endometrial hyperplasia.

Testosterone Therapy

Testosterone may be considered for carefully evaluated patients with clinically significant hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) when appropriate.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Methods of Delivery

Depending on the treatment plan, hormone therapy may be prescribed in forms such as:

  • Oral tablets

  • Transdermal patches

  • Topical creams or gels

  • Vaginal creams, tablets, or rings

  • Other dosage forms when clinically appropriate

All prescriptions are fulfilled through licensed U.S. pharmacies. When compounded medications are used, they are dispensed by properly licensed compounding pharmacies based on patient-specific needs and provider judgment.

Potential Effects of Hormone Therapy

When appropriately prescribed, hormone therapy may help improve certain menopause-related symptoms, including:

  • Hot flashes and night sweats

  • Vaginal symptoms

  • Sleep-related symptoms

  • Bone health support in appropriate patients

Individual response varies, and ongoing monitoring is required.

Alternatives to Hormone Therapy

Hormone therapy is not appropriate for every patient. Depending on symptoms, health history, and treatment goals, alternatives may include:

  • Non-hormonal prescription medications

  • Vaginal moisturizers or lubricants

  • Lifestyle modifications

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy for vasomotor symptoms

  • Additional evaluation or referral when indicated

Your provider will discuss appropriate options based on your individual clinical situation.

Risks & Safety Considerations of HRT

Hormone therapy is not appropriate for everyone. Potential risks may include blood clots, stroke, breast cancer, endometrial cancer in certain patients, and gallbladder disease. Risks vary based on medical history, age, treatment type, and other individual factors.

Your provider will review risks, benefits, alternatives, and contraindications before prescribing.

Lifestyle & Long-Term Wellness

For many patients, menopause care may also include discussion of lifestyle measures that support long-term health and symptom management, including:

  • Regular physical activity

  • Balanced nutrition

  • Healthy weight management

  • Smoking cessation

  • Stress reduction

  • Sleep support strategies

Treatment recommendations are individualized and may include both medical and non-medical approaches depending on patient needs.

Our Clinical Evaluation Process

Treatment is considered only after evaluation by a licensed provider, which may include:

  • Risk-factor review

  • Laboratory testing when clinically indicated

Prescriptions are issued only when medically appropriate. Not all patients are candidates, and ongoing follow-up is required.

HRT is a prescription treatment used to manage symptoms related to perimenopause and menopause. It may include estrogen, progesterone, and in select cases, testosterone. Treatment is provided only after a comprehensive evaluation by a licensed healthcare provider.

Women experiencing moderate to severe menopause symptoms may be candidates. Eligibility depends on medical history, cardiovascular/cancer risk factors, and current medications. A medical consultation is required.

  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Vaginal dryness and discomfort
  • Sleep disturbances and mood changes
  • Low libido (in select cases)

“Bioidentical” refers to hormones chemically identical to those produced by the body. Safety depends on proper dosing, patient selection, and medical monitoring rather than the label alone.

Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. They are prepared by licensed pharmacies when commercially available products do not meet a patient’s specific clinical needs.

Potential risks may include blood clots, stroke, or breast cancer. Risk depends on age, health history, and hormone type. Your provider will review your individual profile before prescribing.

There is no universal timeline. The lowest effective dose for the shortest appropriate duration is typically recommended, with ongoing reassessment based on symptoms.

Hormone therapy does not directly cause weight gain. Metabolic shifts during menopause are common; a structured nutrition and exercise plan is often recommended alongside treatment.

Laboratory testing may be ordered when clinically indicated. Decisions are based primarily on symptoms and medical history rather than lab values alone.

Testosterone may be considered for clinically diagnosed hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD). This use is considered off-label and requires informed consent.

Monitoring requires scheduled follow-up visits, symptom reassessment, and periodic lab testing when appropriate. Ongoing medical supervision is mandatory.

Yes. Alternatives include non-hormonal prescription medications, lifestyle modifications, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Hormone therapy is generally contraindicated in women with a history of hormone-sensitive cancers. Each case requires coordination with your oncology team.
